SPEIGNER Alabama A 20 year old white convict was shot to death and another wounded during an escape attempt over the Draper Prison wall in Speigner. Initial reports said three or more men participated and at least one escape was mounted. later checks indicated only two inmates involved. The dead man was 20 year old Nea Coleman of Birmingham who had been incarcerated since June 1953 and had previously been in an escape plot in January. The injured inmate was William Glover, 21, from Whig Robertson reported the exchange of gunfire use of high powered weapons.
