Driver says he had seizure and lost control in Monahans crash

In Monahans a 16 year old driver told police he suffered a seizure and blacked out before his blue and white pickup roared into a group of seventh and eighth grade students, killing two and injuring at least a dozen. Police noted 146 feet of curb strike and a final stop near a utility pole.

U N panel to depart Geneva for Tehran this Saturday

The five member U N investigative commission on Iran, set to hear grievances over the shah and the hostage crisis, has been cleared to leave Geneva for Tehran this Saturday. The delay stemmed from political disagreements as militants demanding the shah's return pressure Iran. The U N co chair said plans were on track with no deadline yet. The militants holding about 50 hostages in the U S Embassy in Tehran pressed for Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi’s extradition, while Khomeini urged Iranians to demand the shah's return.

Brezhnev warns West as Afghan pullout hinges on outside interference

West Coast flood toll rises as storms subside

Rain in the West subsided after severe flooding that caused at least 31 deaths and about 425 million dollars in damage. California lost portions of its strawberry crop while almond output faced potential national impact.
