Court decision on at large elections may affect Ector County judges
Last month's appeals ruling in New Orleans found that electing judges countywide dilutes minority voting strength. Senate Bill 379 proposes electing judges in Midland Ector and Lubbock counties by county commissioner precincts. In Ector four judges occupy Precincts 1 2 and 3 with Precinct 4 vacant. Under the plan Connally and Lewis would face each other in Precinct 3.

Ector appraisal district tests three-quarter budget fix
Ector County Appraisal District faces a 37250 shortfall from a legal dispute with a local bank and plans to bill seven entities including ECISD, Ector County, Odessa city, Odessa College and the hospital district.
