An Israeli security operative leaped from a plane through an emergency hatch after gunfire erupted during a hijacking attempt above Zurich. Court Upholds Odessa Man’s One-Year Theft Conviction
The Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday upheld a 1 year prison term for Thomas Walling of Odessa. Walter William Rose aged 84 of 2704 Rosebud died at 9:55 am Tuesday at Medical Center Hospital after a career as an air field contractor. Born August 7 1884 in Gatesville he moved to Odessa in 1943 from Oklahoma City. He was a Baptist and Mason survived by his wife two sons W W Rose Jr and Raymond L Rose four brothers and three sisters and four grandchildren. Services were set for 10 am today at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Gatesville Cemetery and a Thursday service in Gatesville.

Funeral services for Mrs Johnnie Bess Davis 58 of 1108 Placer are set for 4 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church with Rev L L Kirkpatrick and burial Friday at 2 p.m. in Oran Cemetery. Davis died Tuesday night at Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness. She was born May 13 1910 in Garner and married Clint Davis in 1984 in Oran. The couple moved to Odessa in 1945 from Salesville. Survivors include her husband four daughters two sisters and four grandchildren.

Three Persons Hurt In Wrecks
Three people were injured in two traffic crashes Wednesday morning. Edward Peach, 28, north Hancock, suffered a heel injury when his southbound motorcycle collided at 19th and Hancock with a westbound car driven by William Butler, 46, West 20th. Peach was treated at Medical Center and released. John Purcell, 25, and Cynthia Purcell, 9, of 922 Wink, were later released after back injuries. Their car, driven by Purcell, was headed south when it collided at Second and Lee with a westbound vehicle driven by Joseph Davis of Midland, who was not injured.
