Wrong kin lists cause Marine crash toll mixup

Marine corps disclosed that 32 next of kin were notified for Marines not aboard the crashed four engine transport near Niles California. The passenger lists for planes 3 and 4 were swapped, triggering erroneous death notices while 38 names were still unverified.

Dust settles after Texas tornadoes with showers forecast

A dust film settled over Texas after two days of tornado warnings and mild temperatures. Dust clouds touched central Texas and far south to Gardeno while western areas reported high winds. Forecasters expected cloudy skies and cooler conditions with occasional showers Saturday night into Sunday.

WACO Feb. 18 Dist Atty Tom Moore Jr said he will subpoena all three members of the State Insurance Commission to appear before a Waco grand jury probing U S Trust and Guaranty Co The aim is to fix responsibility for the affair and it appears most responsibility rests with the Insurance Commissioners Moore noted the session will run into March and may extend beyond the new court term McCall Dean Abner McCall of Baylor University School of Law will oversee whether additional witnesses are called and the subpoenas will be served Monday upon the commissioners.

Three Jailbreakers Still At Large In Laredo Escape

A diving plane and speeding officers chased four jailbreakers who escaped from the Laredo jail last night. Six of the seven were federal prisoners. Two captured suspects, William Lee and Richard Bernard, fled at 100 mph on U S 81 and 83 before a Border Patrol plane slowed the car and enabled arrests.

Missing Airman Timm Sought Along Mexican Border Route

San Antonio detectives joined Laredo police in pursuing leads on Airman Roger C. Timm of Evanston Illinois. A man fitting Timm's description was last seen headed toward Mexico with a small brown suitcase bearing the name Timm.
