Classified Ad Section Gains New Manager
Leon E. Macklem, 31, of 1802 East 43rd, named manager of the classified advertising department of The Odessa American. He replaces Johnny Crooks who resigns to become a real estate and insurance salesman. Crooks, a former veterans service officer, has worked at the paper for five and a half years. Macklem moved to Odessa three years ago from Oklahoma where he was sales manager for a drug company. He has been with the display advertising staff for about 18 months. He is a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and its Lutheran Layman League, and he served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957 in Europe. He graduated Fond du Lac High School in 1948.
