Kyde Ricketts, a 45 year old former taxicab driver, killed his wife Martha 29 his daughter Vicki Mae 12 and three step children Patricia Ann Shelley 8 Marvin Eugene Shelley 7 and Gloria Jean Davis 4 last night after hours inside their Columbus Indiana home then killed himself Coroner Joseph Dudding said the bodies were found late yesterday neighbors had reported threats to wipe out the family but were not believed capable of violence.
Two boys playing near the Henry Vann residence in Longview Texas uncovered 15 sticks of dynamite and about 200 feet of fuse yesterday. Vann and police expressed surprise as the house had not exploded.
A 58-year-old Black man, jailed after leaping at a Grapevine housewife in only shorts, is being questioned about similar attacks by a nude prowler in Dallas. Constable Tillery calls him a strong suspect. he is a former mental patient. The woman, Mrs. Ben Wise, escaped with neighbors restraining the man until police arrived.
Lt. Gen. K. S. Thimayya, chairman of the U N Neutral Nations Repatriation Commission in Korea, will fly back to India at month end to resume his post as commandant of India's western command, a Defense Ministry spokesman said.
Rep. W Sterling Cole said a 1952 thermonuclear test in the Marshall Islands created a mile wide crater and could devastate a three mile radius. He claimed the United States is moving toward more powerful hydrogen weapons, though he would not disclose current program details. Cole stressed it is more sinful to conceal atomic power than reveal it.
Leavenworth Kansas UPI report details Rothwell B Floyd a 245 pound former POW accused of killing two fellow prisoners and crimes including striking an officer stealing from dead bodies and stealing food. J D Britton of Surgoinsville Tenn testified Floyd was a bullying mouthy man amid testimony from four ex POWs at Bean Prison Camp in North Korea. Cpl Ellis Preece testified Floyd slapped a sick man and then dropped him 50 feet by the hair after the man refused hospital care.
Dallas officials announced plans to buy a pygmy hippo for the city park system in response to intercity rivalry with Fort Worth. A Fort Worth hippo is reportedly a female, and Dallas hopes to pair them, a park board spokesman said.
Authorities found Amos Burgess dead beside a highway east of Lordsburg New Mexico with two bullet wounds to the forehead and another through the shoulder. Sheriff Richards called it the strangest case he ever worked as investigators pursued leads from Midland Texas and questioned Marvin Vaughan Ruby Ruth Vaughan and Mrs Burgess. The Burgesses from Alabama were tied to a kidnapping and robbery accusation while the suspects remained tight lipped about motives and addresses.

She alleges he sold her engagement ring without replacement. Judge Kurtz Kauffman may rule Wednesday on child visitation custody and house payments for the three children.
Gen Maxwell D. Taylor told South Korea that the Eighth Army will deal with any disruption in the homeward movement of Indian troops. He sent a letter to Defense Minister Sohn Won II stating the Indian shipment will proceed as planned. Prosecutor Henry A. said he will seek a grand jury review into a lashing of a 44 year old engineer and related murders.
Claude Batchelor 22 and Kyoko Araki 28 wed again at the American Embassy in Tokyo in a swift ceremony after Batchelor’s release from a Korean neutral zone prison. They plan to move to Kermit Texas next month. Batchelor, among 22 prisoners who refused repatriation, previously married in a Shinto ceremony in Tokyo in 1949. the marriage was not recorded.
In Cygne Kansas a Continental Trailways bus collided head on with an Auto Transport Inc truck. Driver Ross Cook of Independence Missouri and Russell Gibson of Fort Scott Kansas died. A third bus passenger died and eight others were injured.
French authorities stated that Viet Minh Communists killed about 1,400 people in a machinegun raid on a village 40 miles southeast of Hanoi. Vatican informants reported Pope Pius XII has improved enough to work in his study near his bedroom.
Houston launched its rabies control week as humane officers rounded up over 1,000 stray dogs in days. Chief George Peyton said 192 were killed in gas chambers on Tuesday amid Mayor Heflin's warning of a semi epidemic. Owners have 72 hours to reclaim pets before execution, with penalties for letting dogs run loose.
