National Weather Service at Midland Regional Airport predicts continued warmth with today reaching mid-80s and tonight in the mid-40s. Winds will be 15 to 20 mph today, easing to 10 to 15 mph tonight. Thursday will see upper 60s with the sun setting at 6 31 p.m. and Thursday rising at 7 31 a.m. Year to date precipitation stands at 34 inches.

Two youths attempt robbery at Odessa 7 Eleven

Two youths described as 17 or 18 years old robbed a Odessa 7 Eleven Friday morning. They demanded money and claimed a weapon, but fled after the clerk, Elanor Mary Hopkins, refused. They escaped with a package of cigarettes. no weapon was seen. The incident occurred near Eighth and Harless.

Odessa youth wounded in high speed chase with police

A 16 year old was shot in the left arm by Odessa police during a 1 58 am chase that reached near 100 mph. Officers Cobb and Weddel fired as the youth tried to ram a patrol car at 42nd and Lakeside. The youth was treated at Medical Center Hospital and released. The incident remains under investigation with no fault found by the chief.
