Iran official hopes crisis ends soon amid hostage talks

Iran Foreign Minister Sadegh Ghotbzadeh expressed hope the U S Tehran hostage crisis would end soon and said Iran would cooperate with UN Secretary General Waldheim in this matter The UN said talks are at a very sensitive stage Waldheim seeks freedom for the 50 hostages seized at the U S Embassy 101 days ago Ghotbzadeh declined to set a timetable for release He also indicated an international commission to investigate Iran’s charges against the deposed shah may meet in Tehran within a week President Bani-Sadr offered to free the hostages in a few days if the United States acknowledges its role in restoring the shah Khomeini warned the Soviet Union against aggression toward Islamic nations and Third World states.
