The raid was part of a statewide crackdown on private clubs selling liquor by the drink and officials pledged further action.
A fire Wednesday in a warehouse at 1211 North Grant caused heavy damage to the building and contents owned by Bostick Roofing and Sheet Metal Co. Fire officials blamed children with matches for starting the blaze and noted stored air conditioning equipment and insulation. A separate car brake fire at East Eighth, owned by Otha E Wilson of San Diego, caused only brake-drum damage. Also a rabbit hatch fire at Emerald Street destroyed a small hatchery, and a second Halley Street call was a false alarm.

In Mexico City the Ma rne Minister ordered six Texas shrimp boats to pay fines from 10 000 to 40 000 pesos ($800 to $3 200) for fishing in Mexican waters. The six vessels Georgia Pine Sherry Ann Cavalier Valley King Miss Port and Little Man were captured by a Navy corvette and their gear confiscated.
Two debt collection suits were filed Thursday in the 70th and 161st District Courts. Southern Liberty Investment Corp. sue Lens Lindsey for about $1,000 on a note. In another case in the 161st Court, Charles Chapman and Dominguez were sentenced after pleading guilty to intoxication related charges, with Chapman receiving seven days in jail and $125 fine, Dominguez three days and $50, in Ector County Court before Judge Gerald Fugit.
Burglars broke into Healy's Service Station at 52% South Grant early Thursday, smashing a window to reach the office. About $200 in money and checks were taken from a homemade safe after thieves pried a padlock from a bucket used as a makeshift vault. Detectives reported the padlock had been pried off.
