A 12 mile south of Odessa two cars collided near Big Spring killing five Odessans and critically injuring Evelyn Janet Arnold age four months. Victims include Orin Woolum 28 Cleo Sweeney 45 Athalene Arnold 44 Ruby Arnold McCann 18 and baby Evelyn Janet Arnold. The survivor is teen girl Evelyn Janet in iron lung.

About 100 Planes Join Search for Missing Houstonians
An air armada of about 100 planes was ready to launch at sunrise to locate four Houstonians missing since Tuesday. Capt. D. E. Shaw of the 47th Air Rescue Squadron said they believed the men were alive.
