Dawson Area Oil Tests Signal Two New Wells
In Dawson County two projects show oil flow on drillstem tests. Amerada No. 1 A. F. Miles recovered 10 feet of 29.3 gravity oil and 50 feet of very slightly oil in a two-hour test at 10,840 to 10,930 feet in the West Lamesa pool. Tennessee Gas Transmission Co. No. 1-A Dupree yielded oil and water on a one-hour test from 9360 to 9380 feet with 190 feet of water-cut mud and five feet oil-cut mud, as drilling continued below 9454 feet. An earlier Spraberry test produced mixed mud readings and oil.

Reeves County project No. 1-KT Reeves 18 miles west of Toyah to reperforate and test the Delaware sand. Earlier perforations 2540 to 3578 feet squeezed off after washing with 500 barrels of muc acid and fracturing with 20,000 gallons. Atlantic Refining Co No 15 in Upton County reports testing three miles east of McCamey and one mile south of the shallow McCamey field. Upper Ellenburger perforations from 8535 to 8545 feet swabbed at 2.14 to 3 barrels per hour after mud acid wash. Acidized with 5000 gallons, 24 hours swab yielded 62 barrels oil 50 barrels downdip oil and 126 barrels acid water.
