Odessa Truck Driver Killed as Oil Tanker Hit by Passenger Train
A 40 year old Odessa truck driver, Carl Davis, died at a grade crossing when his 3500 gallon oil tanker was struck by the Texas and Pacific passenger train en route to St. Louis from Los Angeles. The impact tore the cab from the tanker, injuring none aboard the train and halting service for two hours. Davis left the Cody and Texas Transport yard to a drilling site near Notrees, with oil destined for an El Paso refinery. Funeral arrangements set for 2 PM Sunday, burial in Mt. Mother Watches Father Slays Son in Theater Tragedy

One of the finest lineups in Odessa Regional tournament history is on tap tonight as the Golden Gloves action moves into the second night at the Ector County Coliseum. Five Open Division scraps highlight tonight's bout card starting at 8 pm with boxers from Sul Ross College Alpine Odessa and Midland. Nightly admission is $2 ringside 80 cents general admission and 50 cents for students. The tournament continues Saturday and Monday with all championship bouts on Monday's card.
