Ralph Emerson McGill, Pulitzer Prize winning publisher of the Atlanta Constitution, died Monday night of a heart attack in Atlanta. He would have been 71 Wednesday. An Odessa youth Louis Earle West Jr. age 17 of 4315 Kirkwood was admitted to Medical Center Hospital after a two car crash Monday. West’s 1967 sedan north on Dawn near Castle Road collided with a 1963 Watts sedan driven by James Earle Watts 16 of 3122 Blossom Lane who was attempting a U turn from a parked position. Damage estimated at 900 dollars to each vehicle. West suffered severe cuts to face and arm and is in satisfactory condition.

Thurman Kent Jr and Mary Earlene Kent of Odessa filed a 55 500 damage suit Tuesday in 161st District Court. They accuse Earl M Bailey and Bob G Bailey of E M Bailey Contractor in Abilene of breaching a promissory note for 40 268 dated May 10 1968 and deeds for two parcels of land. The Kents say they were to receive an 18 000 credit and could repurchase the land later, but the defendants allegedly did not fulfill the deal.
