Garcia named INS commissioner candidate in San Antonio
Texas Representative Matt Garcia of San Antonio emerged as the White House’s top pick for INS commissioner pending FBI background checks. The San Antonio Express cited a White House source saying Garcia accepted the offer, with formal announcement after clearance. Garcia, 52, is an attorney and veteran legislator who has met with Attorney General Civiletti and previously declined offers before agreeing the third time.
