Oswalt Case Deliberations Resume In El Paso Court

A district court jury in El Paso planned to continue deliberations in the Mrs. Mildred Oswalt theft case. Oswalt, 42, is accused of misapplying 2545 in Andrews city funds in April 1954 while serving as assistant city secretary. The trial moved from Andrews after a hung verdict.

W L Bud Larned age 27 of Andrews was hurt while working on an oil well on the Phil lips Lease seven miles southwest of Andrews at 5 45 this morning He was pinned between two trucks and suffered a fractured arm head and hip injuries He was taken to Permian General Hospital then moved to Midland Memorial Hospital after emergency treatment by a Singleton Funeral Home ambulance

Frigid Wave Brings Death Across Nation

A cold front produced freezing weather from the Midwest to the Pacific Coast with heavy snow in New Mexico and New Mexico reports two deaths from cold. George Sanchez 60 a sheepherder northwest of Albuquerque froze to death. Sylvan D. Greenwell 41 was found dead in his stalled car on an Albuquerque street. Snow depth reached 14 inches at Zuni and 11 inches at Carlsbad with 23 below zero at Fraser Colorado.

Pioneer Odessa Resident Dies Rites Saturday

Mrs Mayme Henderson a pioneer Odessa resident died at Medical Center Hospital after a two week illness. She was 76 and came to Odessa in 1898 marrying Ira Henderson the same year. She ran a rooming house at First and North Lee for over 40 years retiring three years ago. Final rites are set for 2 pm Saturday at the First Methodist Church with Rev C E Jamison and Rev Ortfin Turner. Burial in Odessa Cemetery under Hubbard Funeral Home.
