Twenty Five Wild Horses Shot Dead Near Reno Nevada

Twenty five wild horses were shot to death at close range five miles east of the Reno Sparks area in Devil's Flatt valley. The killings, described as the worst slaughter in a decade, left foals and pregnant mares among the victims and a surviving filly euthanized. Investigators collected bullets for forensics and a $20,000 reward was offered for arrest. Wildlife groups expressed outrage while officials ruled out rancher‑mounted motives in the Nevada shooting.

Parasite wiping out rainbow trout hits several Western rivers

West watermen report a whirling disease parasite decimating rainbow trout across Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. Rivers including the Madison, Yellowstone, South Platte and Blackfoot show declines as other trout species rise. Biologists warn no cure exists, urging hatchery cleansing and equipment sanitation to slow spread. Disease not harmful to humans, but disrupts prized sport fishing and angler traditions.
