Four die as grass fires devastate Texas town
Cross Plains reels from a fast moving grass fire that destroyed 50 homes in a day and left residents grieving. Four people died across drought stricken areas, with two elderly women in Cross Plains among the dead. Authorities swept the town to account for residents as fires scorched 13 000 acres and more than 70 separate blazes burned across north and central Texas. The community recalls a past tornado as it faces this loss amid a broader emergency.
