Painter fired as Pecos city attorney
Former Pecos city attorney Newton Ted Painter was dismissed after the State Bar filed suit accusing him of professional misconduct. A Dec. 14 civil suit alleged he withdrew unauthorized funds and failed to account for $34,500 from a client account. The council plans to appoint a new attorney at its Jan. 14 meeting.
