Sweetwater Rancher Dies In Aerial Self Destruct
Ollie William Cox a 23 year old Sweetwater rancher and owner of Double Heart Hereford Ranch plunged his yellow plane 6300 feet toward a gravel pit choosing death in a crash. Radio contact with friends at the airport and Civil Aeronautics Administration officials followed a rambling plea laden dialogue before the plane crashed. Cox last spoke from about 6800 feet and was last seen alive when airport personnel found the diving aircraft at 2000 feet. The motive remains unclear after a tape of the radio conversation was reviewed.
