Davis challenged by testimony on recordings in trial
The testimony describes Davis claiming he agreed to recordings to appease McCrory's contacts. He says he returned home Aug 11 and called agent Acree's number, reporting what happened. Prosecutors contend McCrory concealed an FBI microphone and recorded without Davis's knowledge. Davis asserts the money from McCrory on July 13 was for safekeeping and not a payoff, with lawyer friend Hershel Payne planned to corroborate. Prosecutor calls his story contrived and notes holes in testimony.
