Urban aquaculture in Boston Harbor aims to raise red drum
MIT scientists run an urban fish factory on a Navy pier using harbor water to grow red drum in a 300-gallon tank. Quick growth, low maintenance, and strict environmental controls highlight a bold plan to create harbor-based seafood. The project explores closed-loop systems and potential for future harborside facilities and tourism, while weighing impact on local fishermen.
