Illinois couple drives 20 hours to surprise Katrina Knight in Red Oak after donating their son Joshua’s corneas. The 17 year old, blind from corneal dystrophy, now sees clearly for the first time and plans a left-eye transplant later. The Stuckeys have grown close, sharing photos and letters, and Katrina advocates for donor awareness. Joshua drowned June 22, triggering the life changing gift.

Christmas Day After Means Workday for Most Americans
A Bureau of National Affairs survey shows 36 percent of employers paid Friday as a holiday this year, down from 46 percent in 1986 when Christmas fell on a Thursday. Only 10 percent will grant a paid day off Jan. 2, vs 22 percent eleven years ago. Despite closures for Christmas and New Year’s, many firms stay open.
