Sherlock Holmes film review notes brisk London setting and dynamic duo
The essay lauds Robert Downey Jr as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson in a stylish London satire of Doyle. Rachel McAdams as Irene Adler shines in florid Victorian garb while Mark Strong’s Lord Blackwood looms as a grave threat. The piece, while praising chemistry and atmosphere, criticizes the manic editing and overstuffed plot that gloss over a tighter mystery.
