Federal food stock rules eased for home use in Oregon
In Oregon the federal government will release emergency food stocks for home use rather than only in soup kitchens. About 300000 pounds of canned meat juice and powdered eggs will go to Oregon agencies aiding the needy. Senators Hatfield and Gov. Atiyeh pressed USDA to permit home distribution. Kathleen Cornett said the move comes as a timely shift after large previous surpluses were not fully used by soup kitchens.
