San Francisco caller denies Temple hit list claims
A man posing as Tim Stoen telephoned the AP to deny Teresa Buford and Tim Steen accusations about a Peoples Temple hit list. Buford, a defector, alleges Jones planned violence and a 1972 scheme to ruin defectors, with Goldwater and Stennis named on the list. No one on the list was killed. Steen, once Temple prosecutor, left amid a custody dispute.
