Empty Stocking Fund Nears $150000 Goal in Odessa
The Empty Stocking Fund, a Salvation Army Odessa American joint effort begun in 1995, has raised over $1.3 million in 18 years. By Thursday it had collected $140,566 toward a $150,000 goal, with donations extended to Monday. Homeless Students Helped by ECISD Outreach Center
Reeves credits the Community Outreach Center run by ECISD social workers for stabilizing her family’s schooling and bus access. Scott Randolph notes 820 homeless students identified this year, a 25 percent rise from last year, with many in doubled up, shelters, hotels, unsheltered, or street living.
