Twelve jurors and four alternates honored ex defendant Anne Capute at a reunion dinner in Fall River Massachusetts. Capute, 44, was acquitted in October of murdering cancer patient Norma C Leames at Morton Hospital Taunton. Guests applauded as she arrived with her lawyer P J Piscitelli.
Eleven newspaper unions representing Daily News workers demanded a meeting with Tribune Co head after its surprise plan to sell the nation s second largest daily. The Allied Printing Trades Council called the move a violation of a 1981 agreement and said financial projections to unions were withheld. Tribune President Stanton R Cook cited need for capital to keep the paper strong in New York.
