Suit over land use by tribe seeks court approval
A suit filed in January 1979 alleges state agencies interfered with tribal traditional lands by building levees canals highways and other works. Agencies named include DNR DOT and South Florida Water Management District. The lease covers land south of Alligator Alley in Broward and to Tamiani Trail in southern Dade County. Used with reservation's 49,920 acres for hunting fishing and residences. Lawyers said agreement will be submitted to the court for approval next month.
