Miami man freed after three murder trials
Nathaniel Lane, 20, freed after 19 months in Dade County Jail when the state declined to prosecute him a fourth time for the 1980 riot beating death of Benny Higdon. The three trials ended in hung juries. Lane was acquitted earlier of two companion deaths. Another rioter, Ira Pickett, remains charged in a separate riot death.
