Family Dollar center rises on I 20 site in Odessa Texas
A $30 million Family Dollar Distribution Center under construction on the north side of Interstate 20 west of JBS Parkway Boulevard reveals a large T shaped frame already. When finished next July the 1,584 foot front will be 84 feet longer than five football fields with 160 docks supporting 800 of the chain’s 4,500 stores. The 89.4 acre project will employ about 500 workers and include training for Texas Workforce Commission interviewers in Odessa and Midland starting April or May. The center represents a $50 million investment upon completion and hinges on a proposed JBS Parkway overpass for easier truck access. Construction planners are accommodating Parkway traffic and TXDOT will present options in January.
