Graduated Interest Plan Aims to Cut Early Mortgage Payments
Washington officials said federal savings and loans may offer conventional loans with graduated interest rates. The plan lowers first year payments to about 318 on a 50,000 loan, rising to 457 by year five, then remaining level until repayment. Also unveiled were the reverse annuity mortgage and a California only variable rate mortgage amid opposition from Rep. Annunzio who calls it legal loan sharking.
