USC interest shifts to Dallas assistant coach hire
USC shows interest in a Dallas assistant as the Cowboys face home games against Philadelphia and Chicago over the next two weeks. The team’s season collapse follows a 6-2 start after Danny White broke his wrist. Steve Pelluer’s 39 sacks and injuries to Herschel Walker and Tony Dorsett worsen a rough stretch. Landry laments, “We looked like shoo-ins for the playoffs.” Close losses to the Giants and Raiders deepen the crisis.
