Sinking Pearl Harbor center strains under crowds
The USS Arizona Memorial visitor center built in 1980 now hosts crowds more than double design capacity. Parts of the shoreside building sink up to 30 inches and crack, with life expectancy down to five to ten years. Rebuilds aim for 24,000 square feet of space, railings, restrooms, and a 5,400 square foot museum as 1.6 million visitors expected this year.

Officials fail to isolate alcohol in student gelatin
In Gretna Louisiana traces of alcohol were found in a fourth grader's gelatin brought to school. The 8 year old was suspended as officials could not confirm intoxication and refrigeration prevented retesting. School board president Gene Katsanis said it remains a mystery whether fermentation produced the traces. Adrienne Noble, the mother, denies alcohol was in the gelatin and says the treats were for classmates.
