Gas price climbs as winter fears lift market
Natural gas rose to 82.9 cents and $9.41 per 1000 cubic feet amid forecasts of heavy Chicago snow. Phil Flynn of Alaron Trading said fears of utilities lacking storage for a harsh winter, plus cold Pacific Northwest weather, drove the rise. He noted the spike is largely psychological and expected a weather break to ease prices.

Oil market eyes tentative rebound as IEA notes supply rise
Peter Gignoux of Salomon Smith Barney cites crude at risk of slipping further before a potential rebound as IEA data show world oil production rising about 1 percent to 78.9 million bpd. October inventories grew to 2.56 billion barrels, yet remain below four-year highs. OPEC output fell while Iraq's exports halted, and a new price formula for Iraq could ease shipments. Some members push for cuts to defend a floor near $22.
