Russia Says 30 Percent Of Weapons Unusable In Combat
Defense Minister Igor Sergeyev told the State Duma that at least 30 percent of Russia’s weapons cannot be used in battle and more than 70 percent of navy ships require repairs. Only about one third of air force aircraft are flight ready, with crashes increasing amid aging infrastructure and cash shortages. He cited no new nuclear submarines, tanks, planes, helicopters, or cannons this year, and urged ratification of START II to cut stockpiles and fund modernization.
