Intended victim kills would be kidnapper in $1m plot
Two lumber workers aged 22 planned a kidnapping to extort over $1 million from John Michael Paulson, son of Gulfstream Aerospace president Allen E. Paulson. The scheme unraveled when Paulson drew a real pistol and killed one of his assailants, Timothy Payton Curtis, who also carried a toy gun. The other conspirator, Michael Lewis Newsome, was arrested on attempted kidnapping charges. A ransom cassette demanded over $1 million.
