Summit ditches power to salvage Texas Clean Energy Project
Summit Power Group plans to scrap the power generating portion of the Texas Clean Energy Project and reconfigure it to produce more fertilizer by adding a second urea line for the carbon capture coal plant. CEO Jason Crew told Odessa Development Corporation the project could still create 150 plus high skilled jobs and keep the land deal alive with a six month progress report. DOE funding withdrawal in February and doubts about viability led to a shift toward fertilizer, with the aim of attracting new equity partners and preserving the project’s footprint and incentives.
