County eyes wind power to cut county electric costs
Green County officials discuss a wind turbine option to power county facilities. The proposal includes a lease with up to 2 percent inflation to offset zero upfront investment, predicting $8,000 savings in year one and about $206,000 over a 20-year lease. Commissioner Barbara Graff favors owning turbines, estimating a 250 kilowatt unit at about $720,000 plus $150,000 installation and maintenance costs.
