Atlanta officers trace car to rooming house in Harrelson case
In Atlanta a car belonging to Scamardo was found outside a Hearne rooming house where Harrelson lived. Scamardo, now in Washington DC, claimed Harrelson visited him the day before the car was reported stolen. He said Harrelson collected hot checks for Degelia until Degelia's death and that they owed Harrelson about 2200 dollars. Harrelson supposedly came to Hearne on November 14 1968 to collect money and inquire about a strong box in Degelia’s car. Scamardo admitted giving Harrelson two $200 checks written by Scamardo after Degelia’s death.
