Texas view on state board voting over textbook reviews
The Texas State Board of Education narrowly rejected a plan to create an expert panel of professors to fact check textbooks, arguing it would add bureaucracy and provoke philosophical clashes. Supporters cited potential corrections of errors such as mislabeling African slaves and improving education, noting the 8-7 vote with two Republicans joining the minority as a sign of progress and hope for better textbooks and governance.
