Major League Players Vote To Strike At Winter Meetings

AP reports the Major League Players Association urged players not to sign 1969 contracts until disputes over salaries and television revenue are resolved. Marvin Miller led about 100 players in accusing owners of coercion and delaying tactics, with stars like Mantle Clemente Gibson Mays Yastrzemski and Rose among signers. The exchange centers on sharing radio TV receipts versus a flat fee amidst a $49.5 million three year TV deal and pension funding questions. A ninth owners meeting is planned in New York next Tuesday.
