Retired weatherman says service too slow on coast
Davis Benton a former meteorologist in charge at Galveston told the Texas Coastal and Marine Council that Gulf Coast forecasts arrive too late. He criticized data routing through San Antonio and called for direct coastal forecasts from radar sites to speed warnings. He noted staff shortages and radar blockages hindering Houston and Beaumont areas. He proposed a hurricane warning office linked directly to the Miami center.
