Nixon Questions Camp David Progress and Cuba Stance

The president expressed that peace talks with Egypt and Israel are moving slowly but not unusually slow compared to Camp David progress. He denied any Soviet atomic weapons in Cuba and said the administration will pursue better China relations without selling weapons to either China or the Soviet Union. He also defended his human rights policy against former President Nixon’s criticism, saying Nixon has the right to speak and it does not concern him.

Gas price impacts vary by user and distributors

Some pipelines and distributors must buy more new gas at the higher price, and usage varies among residences, broadening impact.

Gas price shift under Carter law to deregulate by 1985

The article notes a two year path to price changes as pipelines adjust to semiannual opportunities. It cites a Carter signed law aiming to remove federal controls on new gas by 1985 and estimates a 25 to 42 percent rise for households by then, with about 35 percent growth likely even under prior rules. Householders may gain if the law shifts more price hikes to industrial users.
