Jail clogged with illegal immigrants in San Diego
San Diego immigration jail, housing 850 inmates, faces extreme overcrowding as non Mexican detainees wait months or years for deportation. Cases include a Polish man since 2000 and a Chinese inmate reluctant to complete required paperwork. Detention staff navigate legal limits and foreign-government hurdles while many non Mexicans are released to ease the bottleneck.
