Prosecutor cites Sasway case to urge draft registration
In San Diego a federal prosecutor says Benjamin Sasway 21 was convicted of willful failure to register with the Selective Service and that the verdict could push about 700,000 draft-age men who have not registered to sign up. Assistant U.S. Attorney Yesmin Annen urged prosecutors' efforts to deter nonregistrants. The Selective Service notes 8.6 million men born 1960–64 registered since July 1980 while the Census Bureau estimates 700,000 more may be eligible.
