Lost Mongol Armada Found Off Nagasaki Coast
A salvage team led by Torao Miozai reports 72 rotting wooden hulks near Takashima Island, likely Kublai Khan’s failed 13th century invasion fleet. Artifacts include Mongolian swords, a copper seal, pottery, bronze Buddha, and stone anchors. the find may be Japan’s most important underwater archaeology. The seal, weighing 726 grams, is deemed priceless and a national treasure.
