Texas DPS and partner agencies plan extended DWI patrols in high risk locations through Sept 7 as alcohol related crashes spike. Last Labor Day weekend 338 alcohol crashes killed 21 and seriously injured 42. tips include designated driver taxi rides seatbelt use and avoiding distractions.
ECSO reports two separate 3:53 am and 6:20 am robberies at the 7-Eleven on 10190 W University Blvd. A white cap wearing suspect demanded cash and fled toward Moss Ave in a dark vehicle. A second man, white or Hispanic, 5'2" tall with black hair and a mustache, also fled west toward Moss Ave. No arrests yet. surveillance tapes reviewed. A 17 year old girl died after a rollover on Highway 191 in Midland County. A 2008 Nissan Titan driver lost control, rolled into the center median, and a passenger, Jennifer Handle of Midland, was ejected and pronounced dead. Two other 17 year old occupants were injured and hospitalized. Wet conditions from a Sunday storm were a contributing factor.
