Dark material covers Iapetus leading hemisphere edge
Voyager 1 captured a photo of Iapetus on August 22 from 680000 miles away, four times closer than another probe. The Saturnian moon, 900 miles in diameter, shows very dark material coating its ice crust primarily on the leading hemisphere at the lower right edge.
