John Overton Cannon, a 63 year old Irving car salesman, killed his 9 year old daughter Phyllis and wounded Pamela 13 and Patricia 11 before fatally shooting himself at a downtown Dallas hotel. The surviving sisters were in extremely critical condition.
Police found Pamela Cannon and her two children shot in a hotel suite. Cannon appeared to have killed himself with a .32 caliber pistol after Pamela, who feared violence from her former husband, stumbled from the bedroom. Autopsies were ordered as Mrs. Cannon related threats. Officers described a chaotic scene with six empty shells in the pistol. The event occurred on the hotel’s third floor.
